Bristol Square in Bethesda

You should consider Bristol Square if you are looking for a two to three bedroom townhome in Bethesda for less than $500,000.  The piggy back style may not be to everyone’s liking but this community offers great value.  Parking outside your front door, balconies or terraces, washers and dryers in your unit, fireplaces, pet friendly and two and a half baths are definitely valuable! Add the low condo fee with a pool to the whole picture and this is a community to keep in mind.

Built in 1981, Bristol Square consists of 68 townhomes on Dudley Lane and Dudley Court and Bristol Square Lane.  It is popular because of its proximity to metro, the Beltway and I-270 and because the children attend the Walter Johnson High School Cluster.

The very reasonable condo fee at Bristol Square in Bethesda includes landscaping, condo management and a very nice pool!

Bristol Square is just off Pooks Hill, is a welcome respite from the noise of daily life – but so close to everything that is Bethesda.  The Grosvenor Metro (Red line) is a short walk from the community and from there you can access all of the DC metro area.

Located between North Bethesda and downtown Bethesda, residents have a choice of restaurants such as Seasons 52 on the Rockville Pike and Ruth’s Chris Steak House on Wisconsin Avenue at the Air Rights Building.  The Pike and Rose offers lots more delicious choices like Call Your Mother, Summer House, Fogo de Chao, and Owens Ordinary.

Of course, downtown Bethesda has a variety of restaurants like Paul, Silver, Mon Ami Gabi, Blacks and so many more.  Shops in downtown Bethesda range from national stores like Apple, Blue Mercury, Bonobos, Lululemon to individual stores like Blue House.

The nearest grocery stores are the Whole Foods in Rockville at Woodglen Drive and Executive Boulevard, the Giant on the Rockville Pike, and the Harris Teeter at  Wisconsin Avenue near NIH.  The Strathmore Music Center is less than a mile away if you want to go to a concert or hear the Baltimore Symphony.  Shopping is diverse – H&M, Blue Mercury, L.L. BEAN,REI, West Elm, GAP, Visionworks, and Porsche!

Life is more than just shopping and eating however.  If you want to get outside for a long run or a peaceful walk, you will love that Beach Drive is so close.  Follow the paths along Beach Drive that will take you far into the woods of Rock Creek Park!

There are several floorplans to choose from at Bristol Square in Bethesda.  Sizes range from 1268 square feet to 1360 square feet to 1435 square feet with three bedroom two bath or two bedroom two bath townhomes.  Because these are piggy back townhomes, some units have the bedrooms on the entry level with the living room and kitchen on the lower level while others have the living room and kitchen on the main level and the bedrooms upstairs.  All the townhomes have a fireplace, walk in closets, and washers and dryers.  They also have either a private balcony or a terrace.

Many have been beautifully updated by the current owners while others give you the choice to personalize your new home to suit your taste.  Regardless, you will love the space (1268-1435 square feet) and price (under $500,000 in early 2022) of homes at Bristol Square.

Hooray!  Bristol Square is pet friendly – which is great news if you like to walk with your four legged child.  Beach Drive is nearby with long trails and running paths.

The condo fee for a 1360 square foot townhome at Bristol Square is $351 in 2022.  The fee for the smaller unit, 1268 square feet, is only $295 in late 2021.

Major employers in Bethesda include Marriott, the Walter Reed Medical Center, The Howard Hughes Institute, The National Institutes of Health, Capital One Bank, Lockheed Martin, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Chase condos are across the street from the Red Line Metro in downtown Bethesda and very close to the new purple line.  The Beltway and I-270 are very close too so that you can always get around the metro area from here.

If you are interested in a piggy back townhome, you should definitely look at City Commons on Battery Lane.  If you like a mid century modern condo, you might consider the West Lake Park condos near Montgomery Mall, the Whitehall also on Battery or Parkside near the Grosvenor metro.  Do you want a small building so that you get to know your neighbors?  Check out Bradley House in Chevy Chase or 4720 Chevy Chase Drive.   If what you really want is to be close to the Woodmont Triangle, then start your search with some medium sized modern high rise buildings like the Christopher, the Chase, Fairmont Plaza,  Madison Park and the City Commons in addition to the new luxury buildings like the Lauren, Cheval and Stonehall.

Five units have sold in the last year at Bristol Square in Bethesda. They range from $4200,000 for a two bedroom two bath two level townhome with 1224 square feet in March 2021 to $400,000 for a two bedroom two bath two level townhome with 1268 square foot which sold in November 2021.  A three bedroom two bath unit sold in October 2021 with 1360 square feet for $440,000 while a 1435 square foot 3 bedroom 2 bath unit sold in December 2021 for $478,000.  Finally in January 2022, a three bedroom two bath unit with 1360 square feet sold for $485,000.
