8101 Connecticut Avenue Condos, Chevy Chase

Built in 1982, the 8101 Connecticut Avenue Condos have only 174 units in three sections attached by breezeways to the center area which is home to the front desk, common area and management offices.   The condos are exceptionally spacious with nine foot ceilings and balconies overlooking greenspace.  Fireplaces and crown moldings create a sense of a single family home.  Some of the units even are on two levels with a staircase to the bedroom area.   All the condos have washers and dryers in the units and garage parking.  This community is perfect for someone downsizing from a single family home in the DC metro area who does not want to give up the tablespace kitchen, big closets, and formal dining room.

The gardens and fountains set this condo community apart from the competition.  Imagine how peaceful it is to walk in a lovely garden and listen to the sound of water falling from the fountains, with no thought given to cutting the grass or raking the leaves!

In 2021, the condo fee for a one bedroom one bath unit with 966 square feet is $679, including one garage space.  The fee for a 1380 square foot two bedroom two bath unit was $970.  The condo fee for a unit with two bedrooms, two baths and 1802 square feet was $1343 each month.  A very large three bedroom, two and a half bath unit with 2262 square feet of space on two levels was $1686 monthly, which is significantly lower than the condos in Friendship Heights or the new luxury buildings in Bethesda.

The condo fee includes water and sewer, on site management, a twenty four hour front desk, snow and trash removal, master insurance landscaping and exterior maintenance.  The building does not have a pool or fitness center on site.

2021 was a very busy year for sales at  the 8101 Connecticut Avenue condos.  Fifteen sales took place in 2021 out of 174 units.  The two one bedroom sales were $358,000 for a one bedroom one bath with 969 square feet (closed in February 2021) and  $380,000 for a 966 square foot unit in March 2020.   A penthouse unit with one bedroom and two baths and 1539 square feet sold in September for $539,000.  A two bedroom two bath unit  on two levels with 2262 square feet of space sold in August 2020 for $850,000 while another two bedroom two bath with 1802 square feet sold for $850,000 in October 2020.  The most expensive sale in 2020 was a 2262 square foot unit with three bedrooms and two and a half baths that sold in September for $985,000.

Pets are allowed at  the 8101 Connecticut Avenue Condos as long as they are under 20 pounds.  Since this building is so close to the new purple line and downtown Bethesda, it is a great place to walk your favorite four legged friend.

8101 Connecticut Avenue is very close to the new Chevy Chase Lake Town Center where there will be shops, restaurants, a grocery store and walking areas.  The new Ritz Carlton condominiums are being built there as well as two apartment buildings, the Barrett and the Claude.  The purple line will have a stop right at Connecticut Avenue, allowing easy access into Bethesda and across the county to Silver Spring and beyond.   The closest Metro stop is the red line stop in downtown Bethesda.  The Chevy Chase library is an easy walk from the condos.  Columbia Country Club and the Chevy Chase Club both are nearby on Connecticut Avenue.  The Howard Hughes research facility and Walter Reed are also very close to the condos, making this an appealing place to live if you work at either of those facilities.

Major employers in Bethesda include Marriott, the Walter Reed Medical Center, The Howard Hughes Institute, The National Institutes of Health, Capital One Bank, Lockheed Martin, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 8101 Connecticut Ave is close to not only the Red Line Metro in downtown Bethesda and the new purple line but also the Beltway and I-270, so that you can always get around the metro area from here.

Where do the children go to school when they live at 8101 Connecticut Avenue? This condo community is part of the Rosemary Hills/ North Chevy Chase Elementary Schools, Silver Creek  MS, Bethesda Chevy Chase HS cluster.  There are approximately 2,000 students enrolled at B-CC from more than 55 countries.  Approximately 75 percent of students go on to attend a four-year college; 20 percent attend a two-year college.  BCC High School recently completed a 94000 square foot addition for new classroom space. The new addition includes two wings that connect the existing building to enhance circulation. The design featured collaborative learning areas adjacent to classrooms and found spaces near vertical circulation for gathering, performances, and learning. A naturally lit stairway was incorporated in the new addition as well as a large dance room. The stadium and sports fields were completed in March 2019.

B-CC has been participating in the International Baccalaureate Program since 1996. The program provides students a liberal arts, interdisciplinary education leading to a diploma recognized throughout the world. Instead of pursuing a full IB diploma, students at B-CC may choose to take one or more IB courses (except Theory of Knowledge) and obtain a certificate for the successful completion of the requirements for each course (more on B-CC’s IB program).
