Superman’s apartment is for sale iin New York City and you could live there! Unfortunately it does not come with his fortress of solitude or his cape.

Superman’s Apartment is for Sale

I’ve been assured that Superman and his bespectacled alter ego, Clark Kent, are not real but the superhero’s apartment on the fifth floor of the Standish Arms Apartments in Brooklyn Heights is real — and it’s been listed for sale by Compass for $5.9 million,  according to the The New York Post .  Superman’s Standish Arms apartment is mentioned frequently in the DC comic books, but it’s even more heavily featured in a tv episode when the Rope Burglar breaks into Clark Kent’s apartment and steals his Superman costume.

The 2,400-square-foot apartment at the Standish, the building that inspired Kent’s Standish Arms Apartments, has four bedrooms and three-and-a-half bathrooms. The fifth-floor condo unit features an open floor plan, a gourmet kitchen with custom Shaker-style cabinetry, distinctive bay windows, Austrian White Oak hardwood floors and views of Lower Manhattan, the harbor and the Statue of Liberty.  Even though it’s been updated, some of its vintage elements—namely two huge bay windows—remain. It was last sold for $5.27 million in 2021.

Building amenities include a gym, 24-hour security, a children’s playroom, original prewar design details and a private rooftop terrace. (Can you still leap tall buildings in a single bound if you are standing on top of one of the buildings?).

History of the Standish Arms Apartments

Brooklyn Heights’s Standish Arms Hotel is a 1903 Beaux Art building that has been a neighborhood fixture for more than a century now, first as a hotel, next as one of the many pieces of real estate owned by the Jehovah’s Witnesses, then as a high-end rental building. In 2016, it was converted by Developers DDG and Westbrook Partners into the Standish, a 29-unit condo.

Superman’s apartment is for sale.  If you buy this condo, you will have great neighbors.  Matt Damon lives in a $16.74 million six-bedroom triplex with his wife, Luciana Barroso, and their four children. John Krasinski (The OfficeJack Ryan), his wife Emily Blunt (The Devil Wears Prada) and their two children live in the same building in an $11.86 million two-unit combo.
