homes for sale in Westbrook ElementaryKenwood in Chevy Chase is classical luxury and traditional beauty for a discerning buyer. The homeowners take great pride in their homes and the beautiful landscaping. Kenwood in Chevy Chase is well known for its cherry blossoms which rival those at the Tidal Basin.  The homes here are in the Westland Elementary School district.

This spectacular neighborhood located in Chevy Chase, Maryland was begun in the late 1920s.  At one time, Kenwood was a dairy farm when Kennedy-Chamberlain Development Co. was founded in 1927. The developers became so impressed with the cherry trees around the Tidal Basin that they planted the trees before they built the first house! Membership to Kenwood golf course was offered free as part of purchasing a home in the subdivision. Currently, there are almost 300 houses in Kenwood, mostly large traditional colonials on perfectly manicured lawns. There have been many famous residents who have lived in Kenwood including Vice President Spiro Agnew and several Cabinet secretaries.

With fewer than 300 homes, Kenwood provides homebuyers with an intimate sense of community. Neighborhood get-togethers and holiday events are planned throughout the year.

In the last quarter of 2021 into the first quarter of 2022, ten homes sold in Kenwood in Chevy Chase.  The least expensive was 5500 Dorset, a property that had been in the same family for 50 years.  With 4 bedrooms, 4 and a half baths and 2680 square feet, it sold in April 2022 for $1,515,000.  The other nine properties sold from $2,000,000 to $5,800,000.  In the last half of 2023, eight homes sold in Kenwood ranging in price from $2,100,000 for two different homes, one on Hillburne and one on Highland to $6,879,000 for a home at 6105 Kennedy Drive.   This home on Kennedy Drive is newly constructed with nearly 6000 square feet of space on over one third of an acre and backing to parkland.

If you want a gracious home in luxury neighborhood and you don’t see anything you like in Kenwood, you might consider communities like Edgemoor, Bannockburn, Burning Tree or Chevy Chase Village for starters if you want to be in the Bethesda-Chevy Chase school district or Whitman.
