Why the Stonehall Stands Out in Bethesda’s Luxury Market

Stonehall Condos in Bethesda: Boutique Luxury in the Woodmont Triangle

The Stonehall condos in Bethesda offer something that can be surprisingly difficult to find: the services and finishes of a luxury condominium building without the size and anonymity of a large high-rise.

Located at 8302 Woodmont Avenue in Bethesda’s Woodmont Triangle, Stonehall is a contemporary nine-story building with just 46 residences. That relatively small size gives it an intimate feeling that appeals to buyers who want attentive service, privacy and the opportunity to know their neighbors.

Stonehall is particularly attractive to downsizers who want to leave behind the work of maintaining a large house without giving up beautiful finishes, generous living space or room for family and friends. It also works wonderfully as a lock-and-leave residence for people who travel frequently or divide their time between homes.

After nearly four decades of helping buyers and sellers in Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Northwest Washington, I have learned that luxury is not just about an impressive kitchen or a beautiful lobby. It is also about convenience, thoughtful management and knowing that your home will work for the way you actually live. Stonehall checks many of those boxes.

What Makes Stonehall Condos in Bethesda Special?

Stonehall occupies an interesting place in Bethesda’s luxury condo market. It is newer and more contemporary than many of Bethesda’s established buildings, but it is smaller and quieter than some of the area’s better-known high-rises.  With only 46 residences, Stonehall feels personal. The concierge can get to know the residents—and often their dogs—while owners have a greater opportunity to recognize their neighbors and feel part of a community.

That smaller scale is also appealing to downsizers. There are no seemingly endless corridors or hundreds of residences to navigate. You can enjoy the convenience of a full-service building while still feeling as though you are coming home rather than checking into an enormous hotel.

Contemporary Residences With Plenty of Natural Light

Stonehall was developed between 2016 and 2018, and its residences reflect the preferences of today’s luxury buyers. Open floor plans, high ceilings, large windows and private outdoor spaces create homes that feel bright and contemporary.  The kitchens were designed for both everyday living and entertaining, with features that may include Caesarstone quartz countertops, large islands, custom cabinetry, gas cooking and Bosch appliances. The bathrooms continue the clean, sophisticated style with modern vanities, frameless showers and high-quality fixtures.

Every residence has its own washer and dryer, a feature that most buyers now consider essential. Many of the condos also have balconies or terraces, giving owners private outdoor space in the middle of downtown Bethesda.  Individual residences vary, of course, and finishes may have been changed by their owners since the building was completed. Buyers should evaluate the particular unit as well as the building.

Stonehall Floor Plans

Stonehall offers a variety of floor plans, from more compact residences to large two- and three-bedroom homes. The building’s two penthouse residences are especially distinctive, with generous interiors, expansive views and private rooftop terraces.

This range of sizes makes Stonehall suitable for several kinds of buyers. A professional who wants an easy commute may have very different space requirements from a downsizer bringing a dining room table, artwork and grandchildren. Fortunately, Stonehall offers more than one interpretation of luxury condo living.

Amenities at Stonehall

Stonehall’s amenities are thoughtfully chosen rather than excessive. Residents enjoy concierge service, on-site management, a fitness center, resident clubroom and landscaped rooftop terrace with views across Bethesda.

The porte cochère makes arrivals and departures easier, particularly in bad weather, and reserved garage parking eliminates the daily challenge of finding a space in downtown Bethesda.

For frequent travelers, the concierge and controlled building access add another layer of comfort. Packages can be received, visitors can be announced and someone is present while residents are away. This is one reason Stonehall belongs on my list of the best lock-and-leave condos in Bethesda.

Is Stonehall a Good Condo for Downsizers?

Stonehall is an excellent possibility for buyers downsizing from larger homes in Bethesda, Chevy Chase or Potomac.

The building provides many of the conveniences downsizers want: elevators, garage parking, private laundry, concierge service, professional management and floor plans large enough to accommodate meaningful furniture and frequent visitors.

Of course, downsizing is personal. Some buyers want a spacious three-bedroom residence so that children and grandchildren can stay comfortably. Others would rather choose a smaller condo and let visiting family enjoy one of Bethesda’s hotels. There is no universally correct answer—although your family may have opinions.

Stonehall allows homeowners to exchange yard work, exterior maintenance and household projects for a more convenient lifestyle. It is especially well suited to buyers who want to travel without worrying about what is happening back at the house.

A Walkable Woodmont Triangle Location

Stonehall is located along Woodmont Avenue in the northern portion of downtown Bethesda. Residents can walk to restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, fitness studios and neighborhood services throughout the Woodmont Triangle.

Both Bethesda Metro and Medical Center Metro are accessible from the building, making Stonehall convenient for people who work at NIH, Walter Reed, Marriott International or in downtown Washington. Drivers also have relatively easy access to Old Georgetown Road, Wisconsin Avenue, I-495 and I-270.

One of the pleasures of living at Stonehall is that you can leave the car in the garage for many everyday errands. Dinner, coffee and groceries do not have to become an expedition.

Buyers who value access to NIH and Walter Reed may also want to read my guide to condos near NIH in Bethesda.

Is Stonehall Pet-Friendly?

Stonehall has permitted pets, subject to the building’s current rules concerning the number, size and type of animals allowed.  Pet policies can change, so buyers should always review the latest condominium documents before making an offer. “Pet-friendly” in a real estate listing is not specific enough if a buyer has two dogs, a large dog or another pet that may be subject to restrictions.

The Woodmont Triangle offers plenty of places to walk from the Capital Crescent Trail to all the shops and restaurants in downtown, and Bethesda has many services for pet owners. That makes Stonehall appealing to buyers who intend to bring a four-legged family member with them.

Stonehall Condo Fees

Condo fees at Stonehall vary according to the size of the residence and its percentage interest in the condominium. The fee helps support the building’s staffing, amenities, management and common-area maintenance.

When comparing condo fees, buyers should never look at the number alone. A higher fee may cover services that would otherwise have to be paid for separately. More importantly, buyers should review the condominium’s budget, reserves, insurance and plans for future capital projects.

As of 2026, monthly condo fees at Stonehall range from approximately $1132 for a two bedroom two bath unit with 993 square feet to $1832 for the two bedroom two and a half bath units to $2723 for a penthouse 2600 square foot unit. The fee includes community amenities such as a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, professional Concierge services and on-site Property Management, a welcoming Rooftop Terrace with garden space, and a gorgeous Club Room with an adjacent Terrace, offering a perfect setting for parties and private gatherings.  Utilities included in the condo fee are water and sewer and gas, plus master insurance, snow removal, reserve funds and on-site property management.

Recent Sales at Stonehall

Because Stonehall has only 46 residences, sales can be relatively infrequent. One unusual sale should not automatically establish the value of every other condo in the building. Floor level, exposure, square footage, outdoor space, parking, condition and renovations can all have a significant effect on value.

RECENT STONEHALL SALES PLACEHOLDER

From January 1, 2026 to the end of August 2026, three units sold at the Stonehall.  Prices ranged from $2,650,000 to $1,030,000.  Recent examples include:

With three bedrooms and three baths and approximately 2600 square feet of space, this unit listed for $2.6M and closed for $2.65M, in April 2026 after 9 days on the market. PH900 is the largest unit in the building and features a huge private terrace and two private balconies, offering truly magnificent sunset views. It is the only unit in Stone Hall spanning the entire width of the building and the only unit with three exposures.  The unit also offered a gas fireplace and two parking spaces.

Unit 800

How Does Stonehall Compare With Other Bethesda Luxury Condos?

Stonehall is a strong choice for buyers who want newer construction, contemporary design and full-service amenities in a smaller building.

Lionsgate is larger and offers a particularly extensive level of service, including concierge and valet parking. Cheval is another newer Woodmont Triangle option with luxury finishes and a convenient downtown location. The Lauren provides boutique luxury close to Bethesda Row, while The Adagio appeals to buyers who want large windows, balconies and easy access to shopping along Wisconsin Avenue.

No building is best for everyone. The decision may come down to floor plan, location, staffing, view, outdoor space, pet policy or simply the feeling a buyer gets upon walking through the lobby.

My guides to luxury condos in Bethesda and Bethesda condos for sale by lifestyle provide a broader comparison.

Lise’s Tip

When considering a boutique building such as Stonehall, do not wait until the perfect condo appears to begin preparing.

Because there are relatively few residences, months may pass without a unit in your preferred size or price range becoming available. Have your financing or proof of funds organized, determine which floor plans will work and make sure your agent knows exactly what you want.

Just as importantly, review the condominium itself—not simply the residence. A gorgeous kitchen may capture your attention, but the association’s reserves, insurance, meeting minutes and plans for major projects will have a much greater effect on your long-term happiness.
