Hamlet House Condos in Chevy Chase

Hamlet House condos at 3535 Chevy Chase Lake Drive, Chevy Chase MD 20815 is a small community of only 31 units.  They are moderately priced, mid century modern condos in a garden style setting. Built in 1960, the building is located off Connecticut Avenue, close to the Beltway, the new Purple Line, and downtown Bethesda. The new Chevy Chase Lake community, once it is completed, will offer much needed shopping and restaurants within a short walk.

The condo fee covers air conditioning, electricity, gas, heat, water and sewer, trash, snow removal, common area maintenance, exterior building maintenance, insurance, lawn maintenance, management, reserve funds, common grounds, elevator, extra storage and security.  The amenities of the condo include an exercise room.

The condo fee for the two bedroom two bath condo was $544 in 2021. The two bedroom one bath condo had a fee $504 monthly.

Three condos sold in Hamlet House in 2021.  A two bedroom two bath condo with 1109 square feet sold in March 2021 for $375,000.  In June 2021 a two bedroom one bath condo sold for $409,000.  That condo has 949 square feet of living space.  The third unit to sell was a two bedroom one bath 961 square foot unit that sold for $491,000.

The pet policy at Hamlet House Condos allows dogs and cats, but limits the number of pets in a condo.

Hamlet House Condos are very close to the new Chevy Chase Lake Town Center where there will be shops, restaurants, a grocery store and walking areas.  The new Ritz Carlton condominiums are being built there as well as two apartment buildings, the Barrett and the Claude.  The purple line will have a stop right at Connecticut Avenue, allowing easy access into Bethesda and across the county to Silver Spring and beyond.   The closest Metro stop is the red line stop in downtown Bethesda.  The Chevy Chase library is an easy walk from the condos.  Columbia Country Club and the Chevy Chase Club both are nearby on Connecticut Avenue.  The Howard Hughes research facility, the Audubon Center and Walter Reed are also very close to the condos, making this an appealing place to live if you work at either of those facilities.

If you walk or drive into downtown Bethesda, you will find lots to keep you busy!

Are you a movie buff? No problem – Bethesda Row offers the multiplex approach for independent films.  Don’t like to cook? Bethesda has been named the town with more restaurants per capita than any other town in the United States. Whether you want to go to the Mussel Bar for Belgian beer or Paul’s French Bakery for croissants and coffee, there is a restaurant to match your taste buds!  Be sure to check out Tatte, one of the newest places for breakfast, right on Wisconsin Avenue.

When you do want to stay in and cook, the ingredients for your gourmet meal can come from Trader Joe’s on Wisconsin Avenue or the Safeway on Bradley and the Harris Teeter on Battery and Wisconsin.  Your favorite pet will never go hungry with the Pet smart at Wisconsin and Bradley!

Shopping? No problem! From the makeup at Blue Mercury with its great collection of Laura Mercier and Bobby Brown to the men’s collection at Bonobo’s, there is something for everyone! Major employers in Bethesda include Marriott, the Walter Reed Medical Center, The Howard Hughes Institute, The National Institutes of Health, Capital One Bank, Lockheed Martin, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Hamlet House is close to not only the Red Line Metro in downtown Bethesda and the new purple line but also the Beltway and I-270, so that you can always get around the metro area from here.

Where do the children go to school when they live at the Hamlet House Condos? This condo community is part of the Rosemary Hills (preK-2)/North Chevy Chase (3-5th grades) elementary schools, the new Silver Creek MS, Bethesda Chevy Chase HS cluster.  There are approximately 2,000 students enrolled at B-CC from more than 55 countries.  Approximately 75 percent of students go on to attend a four-year college; 20 percent attend a two-year college.  BCC High School recently completed a 94000 square foot addition for new classroom space. The new addition includes two wings that connect the existing building to enhance circulation. The design featured collaborative learning areas adjacent to classrooms and found spaces near vertical circulation for gathering, performances, and learning. A naturally lit stairway was incorporated in the new addition as well as a large dance room. The stadium and sports fields were completed in March 2019.

B-CC has been participating in the International Baccalaureate Program since 1996. The program provides students a liberal arts, interdisciplinary education leading to a diploma recognized throughout the world. Instead of pursuing a full IB diploma, students at B-CC may choose to take one or more IB courses (except Theory of Knowledge) and obtain a certificate for the successful completion of the requirements for each course (more on B-CC’s IB program).
