The studio condos with less than 600 square feet run $902 a month for their condo fees and an 859 square foot unit has a condo fee of $1054.70 at the end of 2021. A  two bedroom two bath unit with 1149 square feet  had a $995 condo fee. The larger units, such as the two bedroom one and a half bath units have condo fees of $1231 to go with their 1120 square feet.

Just outside the Riviera you will find everything you need!  Are you a movie buff? No problem – Bethesda Row offers the multiplex approach for independent films.  Don’t like to cook? Bethesda has been named the town with more restaurants per capita than any other town in the United States. Whether you want to go to the Mussel Bar for Belgian beer or Paul’s French Bakery for croissants and coffee, there is a restaurant to match your taste buds!

When you do want to stay in and cook, the ingredients for your gourmet meal can come from Trader Joe’s on Wisconsin Avenue or the Safeway on Bradley and the Harris Teeter on Battery and Wisconsin.  Your favorite pet will never go hungry with the Pet smart at Wisconsin and Bradley!

Shopping? No problem! From the makeup at Blue Mercury with its great collection of Laura Mercier and Bobby Brown to the men’s collection at Bonobo’s, there is something for everyone! Major employers in Bethesda include Marriott, the Walter Reed Medical Center, The Howard Hughes Institute, The National Institutes of Health, Capitalone Bank, Lockheed Martin, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The Riviera is close to not only the Red Line Metro and the new purple line but also the Beltway and I-270, so that you can always get around the metro area from here.

Where do the children go to school when they live at the Riviera of Chevy Chase condos? The Riviera is part of the Bethesda ES, Westland MS, Bethesda Chevy Chase HS cluster.  In fact, BCC High School is almost directly across the street. There are approximately 2,000 students enrolled at B-CC. Students come from more than 55 countries.  Approximately 75 percent of students go on to attend a four-year college; 20 percent attend a two-year college.

B-CC has been participating in the International Baccalaureate Program since 1996. The program provides students a liberal arts, interdisciplinary education leading to a diploma recognized throughout the world. Instead of pursuing a full IB diploma, students at B-CC may choose to take one or more IB courses (except Theory of Knowledge) and obtain a certificate for the successful completion of the requirements for each course (more on B-CC’s IB program).

As much as many people love their pets, it is important to have some buildings where people can live without pets.  The Riviera of Chevy Chase is a pet free and smoke free building!  It is good to know that there are places where you can get into the elevator and not worry about encountering an unknown dog.

From mid September 2019 to mid February 2020, there were five sales at the Riviera.  Sales ranged from $135,000 for a one bedroom one bath with 741 square feet to $250,000 for a two bedroom, one and a half bath unit with 1120 square feet. Two homes are on the market in February 2020.  One is a one bedroom one bath 710 square foot unit for $210,000 and a studio condo for $139,000 with 592 square feet.  In 2021, six properties sold at the Riviera from a 261 square foot condo which sold for $85,000 with a condo fee of $693.57 and a 465 square foot studio that sold for $145,000 in October 2021.  A one bedroom one bath condo with 710 square feet sold in September 2021 for $200,000 with a $783 condo fee.   A two bedroom two bath unit with 1149 square feet sold for $245,000 in June.  That unit had a $995 condo fee.

There are a number of sites on the internet that will give you ‘estimates’ for what your home will sell for. These sites use public records and usually some kind of algorithm to try to produce a value for your home. These sites also publicly state their ‘error rates’. That means they aren’t correct, they are simply an estimate based on incomplete date.
