Downsizing doesn’t mean downgrading—especially at Whitehall, where timeless design, lush surroundings, and urban convenience come together in a package that’s both practical and refined. For retirees and empty nesters ready to simplify without sacrificing quality, Whitehall offers a graceful transition into a lifestyle of ease and understated luxury.
The Whitehall Condos are composed of two high rise buildings and 13 townhouses. The front desk is located at 4977 Battery Lane, the larger building with approximately 260 units. The condos at 8315 Brook are the larger units, although the building itself has fewer units. The two Whitehall buildings were built in 1963 and become condominiums in late 1982.
A Serene Setting with Urban Access
Set on seven acres of landscaped greenery, Whitehall feels like a private park in the heart of Bethesda. As you approach the building on Battery in the spring, it is hard to ignore the profusion of cherry trees in bloom. Mature trees, walking paths, and seasonal blooms create a tranquil backdrop, while the buzz of Woodmont Triangle, NIH, and two Metro stations are just blocks away. It’s the rare combination of peace and proximity—perfect for those who want to stay connected without the daily hustle. For those seeking a refined yet practical next chapter, Whitehall Condominiums in Bethesda exemplifies what I call affordable elegance. Nestled on seven acres of landscaped grounds just steps from downtown, Whitehall offers a rare blend of serenity, accessibility, and value—making it an ideal choice for retirees and empty nesters ready to simplify without sacrificing quality. This sense of an urban oasis is enhanced with the nearby Battery Lane Park just a few steps away with its playground and tennis courts, available to all the neighbors!
Right-Sized Residences with Upscale Touches
Whitehall’s floor plans are thoughtfully proportioned, offering just the right amount of space for comfort and entertaining. Downsizers will appreciate:
- Expansive windows and private balconies with leafy views over the NIH campus or stunning panoramas of downtown Bethesda
- Large living rooms and bedrooms typical of a mid-century modern home
- Generous closets and open layouts that invite light and flow
These homes are designed to feel spacious yet manageable—ideal for those seeking simplicity with style.
All-Inclusive Value That Frees Your Time
Monthly condo fees at Whitehall cover all utilities, building maintenance, and amenities—streamlining your budget and eliminating surprise costs. Downsizers can enjoy:
- Concierge service and 24-hour security
- Fitness center and outdoor pool
- Free parking (some garage parking) and pet-friendly policies
It’s a lock-and-leave lifestyle that supports travel, hobbies, and spontaneous adventures.
A Community That Feels Like Home
Whitehall is more than a building—it’s a community. Residents enjoy casual connections in the lobby, poolside chats in summer, and the comfort of
knowing neighbors are nearby. For those leaving a longtime home, this sense of belonging can be a powerful source of reassurance. So many opportunities for new friends lie just outside your door. You can join a book club at the Connie Morella library on Arlington Road or volunteer at Suburban Hospital. Try new restaurants or explore new gyms and walking trails. Sign up for pickleball classes at the YMCA on Old Georgetown Road or take art classes at the Yellow Barn Studio and Gallery in Glen Echo. You will be surprised how much more time you have in your day if you are not preoccupied with raking leaves or scheduling the twice yearly HVAC servicing.
Why Whitehall Works for Downsizers:
