Bethesda has lots of luxury condos like the Darcy and the Cheval, but if your pocket doesn’t allow for $1,700 a square foot of living space – and 3,000 square feet of living space – then you will love the condos at West Spring!    In late 2021, there is a two bedroom one bath condo with 873 square feet of space on the market for $315,000 and a four bedroom two and a half bath unit with 1340 square feet for $419,900. The condo fee for the two bedroom unit is $611 and the four bedroom unit is $903 a month, including all utilities.  Like everywhere else, prices have increased at West Spring Condos.   In the fall of 2019 there was a three bedroom condo on the market for $275,000 with a condo fee of $799!   The then owner was  even willing to sell two covered parking spaces for $10,000 each.  Two years later, a three bedroom two bath unit sold in August 2021 with 1208 square feet for $300,000.  The condo fee was $811.

There are a variety of sizes of units at West Spring Condominiums. Studios starting at 525 square feet, 1 bedroom with one bath, 2 bedroom with one bath and two bedroom two bath floor plans are there your for choosing.  Some of the larger units are 1403 square feet – which gives you an astonishing amount of space for the money.

Built in 1962 and converted to condos in 1979, the condos originally sold for $50,000 for a two bedroom one bath.  Over time, the condos have been updated by their individual owners so the sale price and property condition really do reflect the particular unit.

Other shopping choices are available at Pike and Rose just a few miles up Old Georgetown Road.  Harris Teeter is just up the road at Montrose and I-270.

You also are very close to Cabin John Park, a great place to explore or ride the mini train.  Cabin John Park is also home to a county ice skating rink where my daughter spent many happy hours placing ice hockey and learning to figure skate. The nearest county golf course is on Falls Road in Potomac.

The condo fees at West Spring include all utilities.  When you live at West Spring Condominiums, your monthly fee includes electricity, gas, heat and air conditioning, a master insurance policy, lawn maintenance, management, snow removal, trash removal, water and sewer.  All you have to pay for besides your mortgage is your internet/cable service and phone, and taxes and your home owner insurance.  In addition there is a move in fee.

Condo fees do go up each year.  Sometimes the increase is big and sometimes it is small.  For example, the two bedroom two bath unit with 1083 square feet had a condo fee of $780 a month in 2017.  In September 2019 the three bedroom unit with 1200 square feet had a condo fee of $799. By late 2021, a two bedroom one bath unit with 873 square feet had a condo fee of $611 monthly and a 1203 square foot unit had a fee of $811.

Families living at West Spring Condominiums send their children to Ashburton Elementary, North Bethesda Middle School, and Walter Johnson High School, Did you know that Walter Johnson High School was recognized as the 6th best high school in all of Maryland?  That is a great reason to move to this condo community.  Nearby private or parochial schools include St. Jane de Chantal, Georgetown Prep, Stone Ridge, Primary Day, Holy Child, the French International School, the Landon School, and Holton Arms.

The West Spring Condominiums are pet friendly, although there is a size restriction.  This is a perfect place to have a pet since there are so many places to walk or run a dog and your cats will love watching the birds and squirrels in the trees right outside your window!
