Every new building that is rising in Bethesda is offering “affordable” one bedrooms that start at $500,000 and rise from there up to the millions.  This makes Bethesda seem like the most expensive place imaginable but there actually are Bethesda condos under $300,000 in the downtown area.  Don’t believe me? Just click here 

The Willoughby, the Elizabeth and Parkside are all great possibilities.  Others include the Whitehall and the Riviera.

The Willoughby – Bethesda Condos Under $300,000

The Willoughby of Chevy Chase Condominium  has Bethesda condos under $300,000.  Standing 24 stories tall, the Willoughby is the largest residential building in the Friendship Heights neighborhood. This community has a total of 815 efficiencies, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments in a North and a South building. Don’t be confused by the fact that the Willoughby has two addresses – 4515 Willard Avenue and 5500 Friendship Boulevard – and entrances at each side.

If you are looking for an urban lifestyle then you will love Friendship Heights. It is a walkable neighborhood with retail and public transportation around the corner – within the cocoon of a soft urban environment! Even though you are close to retail, movies, shopping, and the metro, this area still feels like a suburb!  Residents at the Willoughby send their children to Somerset Elementary, Westland Middle School and BCC High School.

The Elizabeth – More Bethesda Condos Under $300,000

The Elizabeth is another wonderful condo community to look for Bethesda condos under $300,000.

Built in 1975, the Elizabeth is a high rise building of eighteen floors and approximately 363 units in total.  It also includes several commercial properties and doctors’ offices.  Life at the Elizabeth is simple. Everything you need is nearby from grocery stores to fine shops, good restaurants, movie theaters and commuter routes around the city. Located on Park Avenue, the Elizabeth is one of the smaller condo buildings on the street.  The Friendship Heights Metro is just a few blocks away and provides easy access to  DC and the rest of the metro area. Parking is not a problem here with the parking garage and lots of spaces for the residents!

The smallest condos at the Elizabeth are still spacious. The 05 East tier offers 708 square feet for the one bedroom one bath units.  Larger one bedrooms in the 10, 12 and 15 tiers are 860-950 square feet of space.  The 02 tier is still a one bedroom but with a bath and a half and nearly 1000 square feet of space. If you want large – then the 08 tier with 1650 feet of living space and three bedrooms and three full baths is perfect. Whatever your needs for space, there is a floor plan for you at the Elizabeth.  

Children living at the Elizabeth attend Somerset Elementary, Westland Middle School, and Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.

PARKSIDE – BETHESDA CONDOS UNDER $300,000

Parkside Condominiums are another option for Bethesda condos under $300,000  if you are looking for affordable in Bethesda.  Parkside was built between 1952 and 1966 as a rental community and converted to condo ownership in 1981. It is a medium sized community of 954 units in 102 buildings located in a wooded setting spread over 69 acres.  There is one efficiency with 354 square feet, lots of one bedroom condos, and two bedrooms condos. The two bedrooms have one bath or one and a half or two full baths, and three bedrooms have two baths. There is a condo for almost every need and taste at Parkside. Many of the units have lovely views of the woods from their balconies or patios.

Parkside has a large outdoor pool for residents in the community and two tennis courts. It also has playgrounds, a ball field, jog/walk paths, and two clubhouses. You can even take the bike trail to downtown Bethesda. There is extra storage in many of the 102 buildings. Each building also has a laundry room on the lower level in each building.

If you are looking for a particularly quiet condo community you will love Parkside as it does not allow pets. Happily, no barking dogs here to annoy you or keep you up at night!

The Promenade Co-Op

The Promenade Co-op is a large building with two towers at the edge of Bethesda with so many amenities that you will think you are living in a fine hotel. The front desk, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor pools, exercise rooms, pickle ball courts, party rooms, library, restaurant, hair salon, travel agent and on site contractor are just a few of the features that make the Promenade so special.Are you thinking of downsizing? Maybe you want lots of amenities but you really don’t want the hustle of downtown Bethesda.  Are you tired of living in a big house without interaction with your neighbors and friends?
